| Trent Bridge Ground, Nottingham |
|
Trent Bridge Ground is situated in West Bridgford, Nottingham, England. The proximity to the River Trent accounts for its name. The ground has been used for cricket since the 1830s. It hosted its first test match as early as in 1899, which was between England and Australia.
Much has been done recently in a way of improving this century old ground. One of the efforts has been the opening of Radcliffe Road Centre that cost 7.2 million pounds. In 2002 another 1.9 million pounds was spent in making Fox Road stand.
One of the outstanding features of Trent Bridge Ground and also its most identifiable landmark is the old architecture of its pavilion.
Its picturesque location notwithstanding, Trent Bridge Ground has an extremely low capacity of only 15,000. This deficiency has certainly gone against its preference as an ideal test venue.
