Though not as hyped as the Eden Gardens or the Wankhede Stadium, the Green Park stadium has been witness to some of the most spectacular matches and innings that have been played in the country. It was here that Mohammad Azharuddin hit the third of his three consecutive hundreds while debuting. It was also on this ground that Shahid Afridi made a century in 45 balls. The ground was previously not too well suited for batsman and for the poor quality of the pitch, the ground did not get too many international matches.
