Originally known by the name Karnataka State Cricket Association Stadium, Vidharba Cricket Association Ground gets its present name from M Chinnaswamy, who was once the President of the BCCI and the Karnataka State Cricket Association Stadium. The capacity of Vidharba Cricket Association Ground is 55,000.

Vidharba Cricket Association Ground was established in 1969. It got its first test match in 1974, when West Indies starred by cricketers like Viv Richards and Clive Lloyd toured India. Vidharba Cricket Association Ground had to wait till 1975-76 to join in the triumph of India's first test win on the ground, which came against England.



Vidharba Cricket Association Ground is equipped with floodlights and other than cricket, it also hosts musical and cultural events. In 1996 the Vidharba Cricket Association Ground was lit up brightly by the Miss World contest.

Vidharba Cricket Association Ground has been functioning as the National Cricket Academy since 2000. It has helped many budding youngsters grow into able professional cricketers.
