Sardar Patel Stadium is situated on the banks of river Sabarmati in Ahmedabad. The ground was established in 1982 on a 50-acre land donated by the Gujarat government. Sardar Patel Stadium hosted its first test match on November 12, 1983, when India took on the mighty West Indies.
Sardar Patel Stadium has witnessed a lot of cricketing history being made and remade. It was here that Sunil Gavaskar playing a test match against Pakistan in 1986-87 reached his 10,000 runs and it was in this ground that Kapil Dev surpassed Richard Hadlee's tally of 431 wickets.
Sardar Patel Stadium can accommodate 48,000 spectators and is equipped with floodlights for day-night matches.
