| National Stadium Karachi |
|
With a seating capacity of over 40,000, the National Stadium Karachi is one of Pakistan's largest and most famous cricket grounds. The first Test was played here in 1955 and ever since the ground has hosted many international fixtures. The ground has been immensely lucky for the Pakistanis as they have lost only one match at the ground in its 50 year history.
The ground has, however not been so lucky for the hosts at the one-day level. Pakistan have rather performed quite poorly at Karachi's National Stadium. The ground has hosted several ODIs, including some matches of the 1996 World Cup.
Of late security concerns have prevented many international sides from playing at Karachi. The string of bomb blasts resulted in the stadium getting only two Tests in the last five years or so-one against Sri Lanka and the other against Bangladesh. This is really unfortunate as the stadium is very good and the spectators are also among the best in the country.
