| Goodyear Park used to be known as Springbok Park before the commercial expediency to appease its sponsors forced a change. It is one of the newer grounds in South Africa and hence is better designed and more spacious- it can accommodate 20,000 spectators. Goodyear Park's first ODI came in the form of a match between India and South Africa in 1992. The match was easily won by South Africa. Goodyear Park had to wait till 2000 to be granted the test status. The ground has many memories of some wonderful cricketing moments for South Africa. Allan Donald, who is the local boy, became the first South African to capture 300 wickets in test cricket in November 2000. It was in this ground that Hansie Cronje played what many believe to be one of the greatest innings by a South African. He scored 251 runs against the Australians with the help of 28 fours and six sixes.
