Rated by none other than the great sir Don Bradman and Richie Benaud as the fastest bowler they faced, Frank Tyson was one of the fastest bowlers ever to have played the game. He even earned the nickname of “Typhoon” because of the pace he generated in his bowling. He is best remembered for his performance against Australia in the 1954-’55 Ashes series where he almost single handedly won the series for his team. Frank Tyson got his career best of 7 for 27 in that very series. In his short career that lasted only 17 Tests, he took 79 wickets at an unbelievable average of 18.56. But unfortunately his career was marked by a string of injuries and he was forced to quit the game aged only 30. After retirement he moved to Australia and pursued a career as coach and commentator.
