He recorded an amazing feat of 1000 runs and 100 dismissals in three seasons(1928,1929, 1932).

In 1935, Leslie Ames became the last Englishman to score a century before lunch, a record which was broken by Ian Bell, seventy years later.
Leslie Ames's brilliant cricketing career was put on hold by WWII, during which time he rose to the level of a Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force. Leslie Ames returned to play for Kent after the war.
