Lala Amarnath came up with a scintillating century in just 117 minutes on his debut against England. But strangely, he never scored one ever after that. Lala Amarnath got into frequent trouble for his habit of speaking his mind out. He was involved in an unfortunate skirmish with his captain on a tour to England and was sent back to India. Alike most cricketers of his age, the war took a toll on his most productive cricketing years. Lala Amarnath played his fourth test in England in 1946, thirteen years after he played his first. He emerged out of the tour as India's top wicket taker. In 1948, Lala Amarnath was made the captain of the Indian team, set to sail to Australia for a tour. He earned healthy praises from the redoubtable Don Bradman himself, for his imaginative captaincy. After retirement, Lala Amarnath continued his love affair with cricket as a selector and commentator. livescore.warofcricket.com gives information on Lala Amarnath and other Great Cricket Players.
