Seeing the disdain with which Mohinder Amarnath hooked the fiery West Indian pace bowlers in the 1982-83 series, it would have been impossible to believe that the same cricketer was, till a few years back, criticized for lacking the technique to face pace bowling. But then this was Mohinder Amarnath the cricketer. Gleaning both praises for the rich haul of runs with his elegant batting and brickbats for the prolonged periods of drought, Mohinder Amarnath's illustrious career lasted 19 years. In 1982-83 season, Mohinder Amarnath scored 1182 runs, including five away centuries against teams like West Indies and Pakistan. Mohinder Amarnath was the Man of the Match in the finals of India's only successful World Cup campaign in 1983. The award was a follow up of the same in the semi-final. The brilliant 1982-83 season, was succeeded by a dismal performance against the touring West Indians. He managed to score only one run in six innings. The performance led to his exclusion from the team. True to his nature, Mohinder Amarnath bounced back to take his place in the team and was in the business of scoring runs again. A true measure of Mohinder Amarnath's batting talent is reflected by his feat of scoring nine of his eleven centuries overseas. Mohinder Amarnath is truly a legend whose stories of grit and resilience have inspired many cricketers. livescore.warofcricket.com gives information on Mohinder Amarnath and other Great Cricket Players.
