Nari Contractor began his first class career by scoring centuries on both innings of his debut match. He thus became the second man after Arthur Morris to achieve such a feat. He went on to play 138 first class matches and scored 8611 at an average of little over 40. Nari Contractor test career was cut short by a skull injury. The injury occurred when India was playing a warm up match against Barbados.
