Current age57 years

Surinder Amarnath batting prowess came to be noticed early, as he made his Ranji Trophy debut when he was only 15. The easy elegance with which the left handed Surinder Amarnath wielded his bat was a spectacle enough, had it not been enhanced by his range of aggressive strokes. On his day, Surinder Amarnath played God to profess humility to the proudest of bowlers. Surinder Amarnath joins his father Lala Amarnath, in the elite list of players who have made test centuries on their debuts. Many are of the opinion that the vast talent that Surinder Amarnath possessed was underutilized by the capricious selectors, who should have clearly displayed more patience with the gifted batsman. In the tour to England in 1976-77, in the two tests that India played, Surinder Amarnath topped the batting averages. An injury cut short his 1977-78 Australia tour. He returned to do reasonably well in the 1978-79 tour against Pakistan but was dropped from the team, never to be recalled again. livescore.warofcricket.com gives information on Surinder Amarnath and other Great Cricket Players.
