Full name Craig Douglas McMillan Born September 13, 1976, Christchurch, Canterbury Major teams New Zealand, Canterbury, Gloucestershire, Hampshire Playing role Batsman Batting style Right-hand bat Bowling style Right-arm medium
Craig McMillan, playing international cricket for New Zealand since age 21, could not be a part of the 2003 World Cup, owing to his poor form that marked his home summer. It was the first setback in an otherwise successful career, highlighted by his world record at Hamilton in March 2001 when he smashed 26 runs off one over in a Test against Pakistan.
McMillan has always been known as someone who challenged the opposition, both physically and verbally. However, after a testing period and a lot of hard work, he was included in the team for the tour of India in 2003-04 and scored 83 not out and a 100 to get back his place in the team against South Africa and in the 2004 tour of England. After some initial failures and an injury, he was forced to sit out. His outstanding form for Canterbury in 2005 resulted in Hampshire signing him. Like many of the other Kiwis, the tour of South Africa in October 2005 was forgettable, and he managed a lone fifty.
