He started his first-class career with his native New South Wales before switching to Western Australia. He has captained Australia in the absence of Steven Waugh and then Ricky Ponting. He’s the fastest 'keeper to 100 dismissals in Test history, reaching the mark in his 21st Test, when he stumped England's Darren Gough off Shane Warne's bowling at the AMP Oval in 2001. He has also claimed ten dismissals in a Test match once, against New Zealand in Hamilton in 2000. |
