He is enjoying his first year as one of Cricket Australia's 25 contracted players and he has been selected in Australia's initial 30-man squad for the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy in England. Named 2003-04 ING Cup Player of the Year having scored 540 runs from just nine matches at an average of 77.14. He made a double hundred for Victoria against the touring Indian side of 2003-04. Spent the winter of 2003 at Leicestershire and reaped 1293 runs at 53.87, including a county record 302 not out against Nottinghamshire. Made his debut in domestic cricket as an 18-year-old during the 1993-94 season, where he made nine scores in excess of 50 and compiled nearly 1000 runs. |
