He is the former Australia under-19 captain who made his Test debut against the West Indies in 1992/93 and toured the UK with Allan Border's Ashes-winning squad in 1993. Named as one of Wisden's Cricketers of the Year in 2002 following an outstanding tour of the UK with Stephen Waugh's side. Shared an opening stand of 124 with Darren Lehmann against the West Indies in the Carlton Series in Adelaide in January 2001 that secured Australia's first-ever ten-wicket win in one-day internationals. |
