He announced his arrival to Test cricket in resounding fashion with an inspiring knock of 151 against India in Bangalore. A forceful century in his first Test in Australia started a run of form, which saw him win the 2005 Allan Border Medal. Made his one-day international debut in place of the suspended Darren Lehmann against England at Adelaide in January 2003: scored 39 not out, took a wicket with his left-arm spin and claimed a run-out.
He has been nicknamed 'Eminem' in the Australia dressing room on his one-day debut as his short dyed-blond hair made him resemble the American rap artist.
