Umar Gul is Pakistan’s cricket team fast bowler. He had played just nine first-class matches when called up for national duty in the wake of Pakistan's poor 2003 World Cup. Gul showed wonderful performance in Sharjah, maintaining excellent discipline and getting appreciable outswing with the new ball. The biggest moment in his career came with his brief international career so far came in the Lahore Test against India in 2003-04. His 5 for 31 in the first innings gave Pakistan the early initiative which they drove home to win the Test and level the series. His outstanding control and ability to bring out joint movement marks him out as a bowler who should serve Pakistan cricket for a long time.
